Quotes by Gabriel

When Daddy Has Dry Undies
Gabriel gets to put a coin in his bank each morning that he has dry pullups.  He usually goes for the pennies.  One day I offered him a quarter.
G - No thanks.  That's for Daddy when Daddy has dry undies."

In the Car
“Mommy, there’s a baby fly in the car and he has a fly carseat.  He’s sitting in the back taking a ride.”

Genius
G – Mommy, I want three biscuits.
M – There are only three biscuits left.  If I have one, how many do you get to have?
G – Two!

<drum roll please>

Paul – Gabriel, what if you have three biscuits and your mommy and I each have one.  How many would we have?
G – “One, two, three, ..four,…five.  Five!”

I am printing his Harvard application as I type.

Sound Bites from Corpus Christi
Paul – Gabriel, please don’t put holes in Grandpa’s yard.
G – No, Daddy.  I am planting donut trees!
------------------
Nana – What did you see on your trip to Corpus Christi?
G – I saw boats and ships and bridges and people who don’t know how to drive.
(guess who drove into town…..)
------------------
And finally, a child after my own heart:
G – Mommy, I don’t WANT lunch!  I just want cookie dough!

Quotes by Gabriel

Mommy Says That

Gabriel was riding home from a friend’s house with Paul yesterday evening when the car in front of them braked hard.   Paul braked quickly to avoid a wreck and Gabriel said “You’ve gotta be kidding me!”.

Paul:  <laughter> Gabriel, who says that?

Gabriel:  Mommmmyyyyy!

Paul:  <more laughter> Who does Mommy say that to?

Gabriel:  Other cars!

Because He's Not Four Yet

Caryn:  Gabriel, are you done with your dinner?  Is your tummy full?
Gabriel:  No.  I'm not full because I'm three.  When I am four I will be full because I will be bigger.

We do not understand the logic behind this other than to chaulk it up to his excitement about turning four.  In six months.

The Hug

Gabriel:  "Mommy, I want to give you a hug!"
Me:  "Oh thank you my Gabriel!  Mommy loves your hugs!" <squeeze, squeeze>

Gabriel:  "Mommy.......our hug is over."

Sign him up for an Ivy League! My three year old speaks French!

Gabriel has never seen the Little Mermaid.  I haven't seen it in awhile and I'm not sure why I thought to quote a line from the movie a few weeks ago but Gabriel rememebered it and repeated it today.

On the way out the door to get Gabriel to preschool this morning, I was double checking that Gabriel had his jacket, his backpack, lunch, napmat and I had the diaper bag, wallet, cell, baby David, etc.  As we walked into the garage, Gabriel said, "Mommy!  We forgot my shoes!  Sacrebleu!"  Sure enough.  He was dressed and ready to go except for the fact that he was in socks.  Super Mom here.

Maybe this doesn't quite qualify him as bilingual but I was impressed he remembered it and then used it correctly.  However, it's a French curse word so maybe I shouldn't be that impressed.

4AM Pregnancy Test & Barking Spiders

I woke up earlier than usual and immediately sensed the nausea.  Then it hit me “it’s time for you know what” and nothing has happened yet!  While panic shot through me I remembered a spare pregnancy test in the cabinet.  My youngest is not even 9 months old yet!  They would be less than 18 months apart!  Others have gone this way and survived but the mere thought had me wishing I could breathe frantically into a brown paper bag.  Everyone knows that no form of birth control is 100% effective (haven’t you seen Friends??).   But could this really happen to US?  The potential irony of having recently sold our Travel System on craigslist hit me.  I was not amused.  As I waited the “2 minutes” to officially read the test results I realized I was shaking.  The chills.  It wasn't morning sickness!  It was the FLU!   I have never been relieved to be sick until now.
The flu has struck repeatedly in our household this week.  Anyone who could previously brag that they had not been sick all winter has now been sick.  In the month of March.  We almost made it.  With sickies slumming around the house almost every day the camera has been gathering dust on the counter.  But you will not leave this blog disappointed!  I present to you The Best of – Quotes by Gabriel:
“Mommy, my booty ate a barking spider.  Now it’s stinky.”
Me - “Gabriel!  Don’t eat your boogies!”
G- “There’s a tiger in my tummy and he said <growly voice> ‘I’m hungry! I want boogies!’“
Me - <walked out of the room>  How do you reply to that??

G – “Mommy, I think Tinks is naked.” (Tinks is our dog.)
Me – “What should she be wearing?”
G – “…….a parachute!”

“Daddy’s potty is Daddy’s potty.  It’s not yours potty.  Maybe you get one for Christmas.”

<Playing with stickers>
“I take the skunk tails off and they not stinky anymore!”

<While flopping all over the sofa>
“Mom!  I’m spazzin’ out!”

“I don’t need my peas ‘cause my poops not stuck.  My poops gone.”
<Stands, turns with back to me, pulls down pants and bends over>
“See? I don’t have more poops!”
